Chelsea midfielder Mykhalo Mudryk has reportedly tested positive for doping, MySportDab reports.

In a report shared by renowned outlet Tribuna.com, Mudryk was subjected to the test in October 2024 and now the result has shown that he is positive.

Further details reveal he has asked for the ‘B sample’ test to be conducted and is now awaiting result.

The essence of the B sample test is for a cross-analysis and validation of the first test result to avoid errors.

It is likely to be a difficult time for the footballer, especially if the second test result turns out positive. He could face a lengthy ban of up to four years from football if found guilty.

This sad development is coming amidst the player’s dwindling fortunes at Chelsea since joining the club from Shakhtar Donetsk in 2022.

While Chelsea have undergone multiple managerial changes that has impacted the fortunes of the players, Mudryk has been the worst hit as he has struggled for game time under every hand in the Blues’ dugout.

This season, he has been reduced to a bit-part role in new manager Enzo Maresca’s revamped setup, managing just seven Premier League appearances.

The doping scandal could deepen the crisis for the 23-year-old. However, it’s not a death knell should he come out unscathed.

Meanwhile, he is the latest footballer that has been indicted for drug use after former Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba also muddled through the scandal recently.

Pogba had his four-year ban reduced after The Court of Arbitration for Sports upheld his appeal and contention that he did not intentionally doped but mistakenly ingested the substance from medical prescription.
