Liverpool right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold has informed the club he wants to leave at the end of the season, MySportDab reports.
The highly-rated defender’s future at the Anfield outfit has been enshrouded in uncertainties since the start of the current campaign as he has yet to renew terms with the club.
MySportDab understands his contract with the Reds will run out at the end of the season and no new deal is in place with just a few days left before he will be free to enter into pre-contract talks with others.
Real Madrid have reportedly been on the trail of the 26-year-old, monitoring the contract situation at Anfield as it develops.
Sources close to the La Liga and European champions confirmed they will stop at nothing to pursue a January or summer move for the defender as a replacement for Dani Carvajal who is nearing the end of his spell with the club.
Now, according to reports from Marca, Los Blancos have now received a major boost in their move for Arnold as the ball-playing defender has informed Liverpool of his desire to leave.
The report adds the England sensation is ready to end his spell with the Merseyside outfit and is open to joining Real Madrid in the summer as a free agent.
Arnold has been an integral part of the Liverpool setup since his breakout into first-team football in 2016 under former boss Jurgen Klopp.
He has totalled 332 appearances for the club, scoring 19 goals with 85 assists. Recently, he became the first Premier League defender to hit a record 100 goal contributions, crowning his meteoric rise in the Reds’ set-up.
This season, he has made 16 Premier League appearances for the Reds and established himself as key player in Arne Slot’s defence setup.
A move to Real Madrid could see him end his nine-year senior career with the Premier League giants.
